Thoughts of a puppy
Brittany and I are looking around for a new place to live. We don't have to move right now, but we are looking around to see if a good deal comes up. One of our possible requirements is to move somewhere that allows pets. We want a puppy! We're not exactly sure what kind yet, but our though is that it will be fun, exciting and a huge responsibility. Basically we think it may be a little prep for children. Not that children are coming soon, but we want to prepare early. We want a dog that we can play with, run with, and cuddle with. Some possibilities are: golden retriever, lab, pointer, dalmation, and a rhodesian ridgeback. Yes, a rhodesian ridgeback. If you don't know what it is, its an athletic dog that's fun to be around. If you have any advice for kinds of dogs, please do tell. We are new to this whole thing and don't fully know the characteristics of each species. Any help would be appreciated.

cats are great because you still have the freedom to go away for the weekend without getting a petsitter. also, they are not as smelly and they don't have to be taken outside to go to the bathroom...there are a few trade-offs such as hairballs and cleaning the kitty litter but I still highly recommend a cat.
either way...in our pet experiences (and others that I know of) getting a pet from the pound is the best way to go because they actually act more grateful...i'm not kiddiing. we have had pets from other sources and they were not as well mannered. if you would like a good example of this with dogs you should ask my brother because they have a major story to tell.
it only takes one visit to the humane society to fall in love with an animal and want to take it home. I have to keep Pablo FAR away from that place or we will end up with way too many cats then we can take care of.
Yeah, the humane society is definately an option, but we really want a puppy. I'm sure there may be a dog or two around a year old, but we're talking like a puppy puppy. It won't happen for a while though. So we'll see if our thoughts change.
